Overview

As part of a mandate to provide the best quality care for patients, convenience for clients, and the optimal educational environment for their veterinary students, the Tufts University administration and staff determined that reconstructed and expanded facilities were needed.

The reception, waiting, and business support areas at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine were expanded and completely redesigned to provide more efficient client flow and protected seating areas. A dedicated emergency exam room was created with immediate adjacency to a dedicated treatment and observation room.

An Intensive Care Unit was reconstructed on an open‐plan concept that allowed for optimum patient observation and adequate circulation for student groups. Surrounding the ER and ICU are holding wards with integral doctors’ stations and treatment tables. A dedicated exotics treatment room and ward were developed with specialized housing and air handing systems to meet the unique patient needs.
