The VCA Vancouver Animal Emergency & Referral Centre took on the task of renovating a building that was half-defunct animal hospital and half warehouse space, and turned it into a new, state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital. This 12,500 square-foot fast-paced facility boasts 10 exam rooms, three surgery suites, and both in- and out-patient treatment spaces. A dedicated critical care unit along with both MRI and CT modalities complement the services that are provide to their patients.
The aesthetic of the interior finishes is urban spa in nature, utilizing bright splashes of color such as fuchsia and green. Sleek, horizontal dark grey porcelain tile accents the reception area while bands of white quartz wall protection punctuate the public areas. The original warehouse building was used to mark the new entry and creates a bright, airy lobby space.
