Animal Arts was the Architect of Record for this facility for HSPPR back in 1999. The building, designed in a rustic, mountain style is home to the largest animal sheltering program in Southern Colorado.
Recently, HSPPR asked us to help them expand and update their veterinary clinic to allow them to provide better care to sheltered animals and wellness checks, vaccinations, and spay/neuter
surgeries to community pets.
To house the expanded clinic, an addition was built onto the existing shelter building, and a plan was devised that would maximize the clinic’s capabilities in the larger, but still compact footprint.
Included in the project was a new parvo ward, separate wards for public and sheltered dogs and cats, a three-table surgery suite, four exam rooms, a three-table treatment area, a separate two-table dental suite, and a surgery induction space with recovery beaches for careful monitoring of postoperative patients.
The renovation also included a new foster care area with offices, a reception lobby, an exam room, and two temporary animal housing spaces.
