Overview

Animal Arts designed the original 11,000 square‐foot award‐winning, freestanding hospital in 2002, which combined a specialty referral and emergency practice with the ability to share diagnostic and treatment space. In 2006, Upstate rehired Animal Arts to design a 16,000 square‐foot expansion that included an oncology wing, a linear accelerator, and a surgery center.

The hospital prides itself on utilizing the best technology and providing the highest quality of care. Innovative design and architecture are used to communicate quality of care to clients coming through the door. The linear accelerator was placed at the front of the building, clad in shiny metal, and lit at night to highlight its importance.

In the newly expanded facility the owner wanted to continue the same level of collaboration between the doctors and staff, so glass is used extensively and atriums at interior intersections are used to facilitate communication and camaraderie.
