This three‐story, 42,700 square‐foot specialty facility for VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital is a one‐of‐a‐kind facility on the west coast. The old hospital was in need of a space upgrade to provide improved quality of care for its patients. In a dense metropolitan area with limited available land, a three‐story building came on the market just blocks from the existing hospital and VCA jumped on the opportunity to expand.
The new facility includes an imaging department with a linear accelerator, MRI, and CT, an oncology department, 22 exam rooms, outpatient treatment, nine surgery suites, an endoscopy department, an intensive care ward, and an alternative medicine department.
In addition to providing a state‐of‐the‐art facility, Animal Arts also designed this building to have low‐flow water fixtures to meet the water conservation plan for the City of Los Angeles, prepared the roof to accept photovoltaic panels in the future, and specified low‐VOC finishes throughout.
